The Community Chest is Adem K’s (formerly of Turnstyle, The Burton Cool Suit) debut solo record. This album sees K’s pop sensibility run wild, combining the blues-rock fuzz of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with dreamy Beach Boys harmonies on opening track 200 Year Old Volkswagon, side-stepping between winsome verses and jerky choruses on third track Burning Questions for Sportsgirl, then rediscovering his synth roots with fifth track barn burner Ceiling to the Floor.

In addition to reaffirming his status as the best song title-er in the business, these songs show off the breadth, skill and eclecticism of K’s songwriting while at the same time providing the same wit and slacker 90s grit as his past projects.

The Love Is My Velocity Cookbook II features recipes from 52 local bands and art from 60 emerging local artists. It’s unbound format means it can act as a traditional book or a collection of art prints that can be hung on the wall.

The Tigers contribution, Now That I’m Old, Whatever Will I Do With My Whimsical Hardcore Tattoos, is a cracking track that deserves its awesome title; we love Stina so much we decided to release double the love – Apple of Mine and Only Two. All vinyl comes with free mp3s!

First Page is an anthology of writing and artwork produced by 22 contributors from Perth, Western Australia. Each was given a blank chapter upon which to collapse, distil or marry image and text. Their responses have formed a beautiful cross-platform publication that traverses such mediums as illustration, photography, prose, painting, non-fiction, micro fiction, sculpture and poetry, often combining them in unique ways. This is The Burton Cool Suit’s second album and their first for LIMV. “You Can’t Fight City Hall” is an excellent garage pop record – what we’d term the kind of music that owes as much to sixties garage, Pavement and Marc Eric as it does to the Perth suburb of Bassendean.
